We are thrilled to announce that Kentyou, a dedicated advocate for open-source innovation, will be participating in the EclipseCon 2023 conference (Ludwigsburg, Germany, October 16 – 19, 2023). This marks our second consecutive year at this prestigious event, emphasizing our commitment to fostering open-source solutions and the vibrant community that drives them.
At Kentyou, we understand the pivotal role that open-source projects play in shaping the future of technology. Last year, we joined the EclipseCon community, where we shared our passion for open-source development and our dedication to the Eclipse sensiNact project, which serves as the bedrock of our solutions.
Eclipse sensiNact: Bridging IoT Through Open Standards
Eclipse sensiNact represents more than just a project for us; it highlights the value of open collaboration. In an era marked by the surge in IoT devices and sensor data, it’s crucial to prioritize open standards. Eclipse sensiNact reflects this commitment through its modular design, which simplifies the swift development and integration of open standards like the OGC SensorThings API.
This year, we are delighted to share our insights into this exciting development at EclipseCon 2023. On Thursday, October 19th, from 14:45 to 15:20, Thomas Calmant our lead Software Architect will chair a session titled “Supporting Open Standards: Building an OGC SensorThings API for Eclipse sensiNact.“
In this session, we will delve into the challenges posed by the surge in IoT data and the need for open standards in data access mechanisms. Our talk will showcase how the modular architecture of Eclipse sensiNact enables the swift development and integration of the OGC SensorThings API. Attendees will gain a deep understanding of the architectural principles behind Eclipse sensiNact, including its “sensing” model and its key components: Things, Sensors, and Observations.
Moreover, we will explore the technical implementation details, highlighting the seamless integration of REST and MQTT access to sensor data. The objective of this session is simple yet vital: to introduce the Eclipse sensiNact project and demonstrate how we have constructed new modules to provide its model to clients using the OGC SensorThings standard API.
Kentyou at the OSGi Summit
But there’s more to our participation! Kentyou is excited to announce its involvement in the OSGi Summit, co-located with EclipseCon. Given sensiNact’s utilization of OSGi, this is a perfect opportunity to delve into the subject further. During the OSGi Day, Thomas Calmant will present two sessions that promise to be both insightful and forward-looking.
- Advancing Type Safe Events with Learning from Eclipse sensiNact: In this session, we’ll explore how the lessons learned from Eclipse sensiNact can advance type-safe events within the OSGi framework.
- The Use of WebSockets in OSGi: Discover the possibilities and best practices for utilizing WebSockets in OSGi environments, a crucial topic in the modern digital landscape.
Join Us at EclipseCon 2023
As we gear up for EclipseCon 2023, we extend a warm invitation to all technology enthusiasts, developers, and open-source advocates to join us at our sessions. Together, we can explore the vast potential of open-source collaboration, learn from each other, and shape the future of technology.
In conclusion, we believe that open-source principles are the driving force behind innovation. We are excited to return to EclipseCon, where we can share our journey with the Eclipse sensiNact project, introduce new developments, and engage with the global open-source community. Let’s come together, share knowledge, and build a brighter future for technology—one open standard at a time.
Mark your calendars for October 16 – 19, 2023, in Ludwigsburg, Germany. We look forward to seeing you there!
